There is an enormous car park.
If you are desperate to leave you could leave before the encore:eek: .
Perhaps park close to the exit but you will have to walk for a while. 'Phone the NEC if the MSErs can't help."You can if you think you can."

Trains and buses go to Birmingham International station right next to the NEC. This can be a quick way of getting there and away.0

Parking can usually cost about £6-£7 depending whats on. If its a gig its usually ages before you can get off the car park. From the car park there is a shuttle bus or youve got a bit of a walk, great fun!! Train is easier.0

trouble is i am staying in hotel which is 2 junctions down motorway!!0

hi bigfoot125 where abouts is your hotel your staying in?
try parking a bit away from the nec there are a lot of areas around and about the nec if you dont mind a walk?
what i normally do if i am going somewhere i am not sure about where to park etc is get there early and have a little drive around and look to see if there is anywhere to park nearby?0 -
The NEC is BIG! Any off-site parking will be some way away. It's true that exiting after a gig can take some time - but aren't all gigs anywhere like that?
One suggestion not mentioned is to use the railway car park. It's no cheaper than the gig parking (£6) but may be easier to get out of - although I have been there when the machines failed and we had to wait nearly an hour 'til the man came with the key!0 -
i used to live by the nec and yes your right lesd it is a big place however myself personally i hate sitting in queues and would rather walk 10 15 minutes and the railway car park is a good one to park at if your on about the one by the airport? and i think they do a shuttle train to the nec not sure though never used it myself?0

so if i park there ill pay but can hop on a shuttle free of charge and less hassle when leaving
sounds good to me0 -
Ok folks....this is getting a bit confused.....
There are THREE areas involved here:
1. The NEC exhibition and show complex which has it's own parking - various charges depending on the event. Gig parking is usually £6-7 as posted earlier with shuttle buses to the Arena - or it's a short walk.
2. Birmingham International Station - which has its own car park, chargeable at £6 per day. There is a walkway from the station to the NEC Arena which takes about 10 mins.
3. Birmingham International Airport - which has yet more car parking with the usual extortionate airport parking charges. This has a (free) shuttle train to the station. Not recommended as parking for Arena events but has a continuous supply of black cabs if that's of any use.
(ps...just a thought re the station car park...does anyone know if it costs a further £6 if you collect the car after midnight????)0 -
I think there's two ways out. The one which can be trouble is the one that leads directly onto the M42 roundabout. I don't even know where the other one comes out but it does bring you back to the same place eventually (my husband drives when we're out together) and we've never gotten stuck in traffic that way.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
