How to prevent mould growth?

Hi all,
Since I had secondary glazing installed, I have 2 windows that attract mould. Teh house is not inherently damp - it must be just poor air circulation in those 2 spots.
Are there any good products out there that are reliable at removing this mould? Maybe something like this? - http://airexchange.com.au/natural-house-cooling/rechargeable-dehumidifier

Has anyone had any experience with mould preventing solutions (caused by bad ventilation)?
Thanks

You need to resolve the ventilation issue. Open up the windows for a short period of time each day and the air will circulate. Wipe down the surfaces with a cloth soaked in a mild solution of bleach and it will prevent some growth and kill any existing mould. You need to do this regularly almost as often as you be recharging that device you linked to.

  • Hi,

I have this exact problem at the moment. Old house and we just had double glazing fitted 5 months ago, I have since noticed mould growing in 3 areas. I have had it confirmed that is is becasue of the double glazing, my options are to
    keep cleaning the mould
open the windows for a few hours a day, eg overnight on the 'secure lock'
    have vents installed.

turns out when the windows were installed they didn't put in little vents at the top. Our handyman told us you can buy them and do them yourself, drill holes in the plastic and then attach the vent covers. I think that is what we are going to do as the best long term solution. My Dad will do this as he is good at diy, hopefully this will save us having to remember to open and close the windows.
