Have just taken a roll of wallpaper back for a refund but wouldn't give me a refund because I bought it more than 28 days ago. Missed it by a few days. I didn't read the back of the receipt I admit, but now I'm stuck with one roll of wallpaper and they are still selling it for the same price I paid. Thank goodness there are other DIY stores because I wont be going there again.

  • B&Q are the same, I try to take some tiles back 32 days after purchase and was told NO Cant have a refund !
  • I have taken stuff back to b&q long after I've bought it but the difference is i didn't have the receipt so was given vouchers which were just as acceptable. If you want to take the wallpaper back, don't produce the receipt and they will probably give you vouchers.
  • Unless there's something wrong with the product, they don't by law have to give you a refund at all - so the fact that they actually do choose to offer a 28 day period in which you can change your mind for a refund is good customer service.

Other stores may not even give you 28 days.

Consumers do have to take some responsibility for buying the right thing!

I can't for the life of me see what people are complaining about here.

Totally agree with that last statement. It seems that some people just cannot be pleased and accept no responsibility for their own actions.
Don't bother trying to sue me - I've got no money!

I dont think the OP has changed their mind.
For items such as wallpaper you must have it all from one batch or extra rolls bought later might not match, Its a good idea to buy enough to be sure you will get the job done in one go.
DIY shops often offer to refund unused rolls so you can a couple of spares just in case.
When I bought bathroom tiles I was offered this but the retailer did mention a time limit.

They will need unused wallpaper back within a reasonable time though, otherwise the shop will end up with odd rolls from different batches.
Here I go again on my own....
