council/serco repairs not done properly

i will put it quickly today i put washing in washing machine started washing them then BANG and smoke i thought !!!!!!???? called my dad who is odd job man knows alot and he pulled ouit washing maching and the waste pipe which is on the wall was not attatched to the wall (apparently it is suppose to be) this is to ensure water does not go in to the plug (which it did and blew my washing machine up) does anyone know if i can claim off the council fdor this grateful for any help thank you

  • unfortunately you will probably find they willnot accept any liability for the installation and subsequent leak

    I imagine they will say whoever installed the machine should have checked the pipe and sockets were suitable

    You want to claim off the Council for something that was the fault of your brother? Does your brother work for the Council then? If not, how on earth do you get this to be the Council's fault? :confused:

    You'd be better off asking your brother - after all, it was him who incorrectly installed your washing machine...

  • as the council should have nailed the waste pipe back b4 i moved in i have found the repairs form of the jobs which needed to be done whren i moved in and this was on the list and the council had a few other repairs which they needed to to which have been done but this on one and another one was not done i did not think tthis was my job to do as it was written as a 3-5 day job on the couincil repair list but they never did do it
