Changing cigarette lighter use
Hi, I've got a citreon picasso with two cigarette lighters, (front and back) and use the front one for phone and gps, rear for cheap dvd player for the children.
The dvd player switches off every time we start/stop the ignition.
Is it possible to change the lighter so it is connected permenantly and how?
Many thanks, sorry if question is vague but I'm not auto savvie!

Yes... easy to do..
However - the fact you are asking this question means that you are not qualified to do it.
Stump up the money and get an auto electrician to do it.

Edit :- Be aware though that you need to check the power consumption of the DVD player (even on standby) - you could end up with a flat battery every morning.0 -
I agree with the above but would also say, if you decide to have it done,be careful how you use it or you may end up with a flat battery.

I had a car a few years ago (Cannot remember the make) that had two positions for the fuse.
In one it was Live on the ignition only and in the other Live all the timeI used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Thanks everyone.
I'm with trouble on this one, I'm probably not qualified, but I could probably change the fuse position if thatis the only thing necessary.
Yet another dumb question...... would the battery go flat as we would only be using the dvd player during journeys?
Thanks0 -
As long as you do not use it when the engine is not running you will have no problem.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

I have just read my last post.
You should be able to run a DVD player for an Hr without the engine running and not have a problem.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
No probs ariba, I figured you meant not to watch it for 24 hours straight.

Get your manual out, I had a Xsara and think it was fuse 20 or 21, which has 2 positions. you just pull it out and move it half a width across to change from swithched to permanent live.I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.0
