esaver statements

In a pickle regarding esaver statements. Obviously you don't receive paper ones so over the years have never kept them, only the tax certificates. Now being self-employed and having to keep records etc i have realised the situation i am now in. Is it sufficient to see money going out of the main account and being returned + interest or do i need to obtain statements, some banks don't exist any more so how do i go about doing it.

Your post does not make it clear whether you are referring to bank details regarding your self-employed earnings or whether you have actually got a record of the totals but not the individual amounts.

If you know your total earnings I should not worry about duplicate bank statements at this time because you would only need to produce them if you were unlucky enough to be selected by HMRC for a full records check.

I would however recommend keeping a paper record of all your future deposits showing the date, amount & from whom received (whether they are private deposits or earnings). You can then always justify you entries on your self assessment form.

I use the same account for business and personal so there are large amounts of money coming back and forth from ebonds etc into the one account over various years.

I was just concerned about a full records check and me not having adequate records. With large private transactions.
  • NatWest eSaver statements can be downloaded from online banking going back 6 years or more. Maybe your bank does the same?
