New to this - claiming from HSBC and Welcome Finance?

Hi everyone
I've only just stumbled upon all this about being able to reclaim mis-sold PPI (where have I been?!).
I had a loan from Welcome Finance a few years ago - I believe the loan was settled in 2007. I definitely remember them pressuring me to take out the PPI (and I'm sure they hinted at the fact that the loan would be refused if I didn't take the PPI) even though I didn't really want to. However I've heard Welcome are no longer trading - can I still claim? If so, how?
Even longer ago, I had a loan from HSBC and I'm pretty sure I was mis-sold PPI with that one too. However I think it may have been more than 6 years ago now since the loan was settled so does this mean this one is too late to try to claim?
Last question, sorry. I've had a look at the initial template letter (requesting the copy of the credit agreement) but I see that you are supposed to put your account number on it. Probably a silly question - what if you don't know the account number? I dont have any paperwork now for either loan, and it was so long ago.
Thank you in advance.

Welcome are easy to deal with. Ring the local office where you got the loan and they will point you in the right direction.0

Thank you for your reply. Would their office still be open even though they are no longer trading? (Or have I got it wrong that they are no longer in business?). Are they usually ok with you when you call? (What a daft question lol – but I’m a bit nervous!)0 -
Just called Welcome Finance and they have looked at my record and told me that I didn’t pay any PPI – they said it was quoted for, but then I didn’t take it. Boo :-( I’m SURE I did. They wouldn’t lie though… would they?0

Send them a SAR,this will cost you £10 but should get the info you need, then you will know if you had ppi.
