Try some Jeyes Fluid - seems to get rid of most stuff.0

Unfortunately, bleaching it wont clear the smell and may well actually attract the cat back there. Biological washing powder or any of the specific enzyme based cleaners should do the trick though0

Jeyes fluid works well, I also use cheap fabric conditioner from Home Bargains mixed 50/50 in a big bucket of hot water.0

Never, Never use bleach on cat wee or sprays. It is similar to the wee smell and cats love it. I use a white vinegar and bio washing detergent and it works brilliant. Got that tip from a cat forum and it's been a godsend as i have 4 cats who are stressed due to a newcommer cat.0

Please don't use Jeyes Fluid around cats. It contains phenol which is toxic to them. Likewise, any disenfectant that goes cloudy in water. Concentrations of just 1% in water can cause skin burns.

dont use bleach - attracts cats!
try dousing the step with biological washing powder - then rinsing off with plain water.
strong alcohol will work too - but why waste good vodka?
Bicarbonate of soda will help - but its cheaper to use bio washing powder0 -
We use this stuff - absolutely brilliant.
We have 4 cats, one has FLUTD and is on special diet and will wee anywhere he can, so we've tried it all, and this stuff is the only thing we've found that kills the smell dead.
