    Good afternoon 11+ers:D

    Exchanged my WHS gift cards for a mixture of Argos, M&S, Homebase, itunes and New Look. Also bought printer ink which was buy 1 get 1 half price and managed to use a £5 off £20 spend at the same time :j
    I had no problems but they did confirm the glitch still works but only by using cash each time, not a gift card to buy the next gift card. Its still a good deal if anyone has enough spare cash though.:A
    Couldn't think of anything witty to say so just keeping the space until I can :(

  • Good afternoon everyone.

    Got trouted at Superdrug this morning. They wouldn't accept the Dettol coupons, so I went to another Superdrug branch and they accepted them with no problem. Got two Dettol No-Touch systems and a bottle of Original Source shower gel for 57p.:D

    Used stacks of SSM coupons in Tesco. Managed to use the rest of the Lenor ones and two Duracell ones, and a £1.50 off £6 household products spend. Got DTD on the batteries cos I found some stands saying BOGOF in one of the toy aisles (thanks to the OP who suggested looking here:T).

    Popped into WHS but didn't have the guts (or the time) to try out the giftcard thingy. The signs were up that said £15 giftcard for £10 when you buy any greetings card, and there was nothing that said that you couldn't use one gc to buy another - I just chickened out! :rotfl:
    I got trouted at Superdrug too went to Asda for mine instead.

    Would like to pick your brains please??

    I have possibly got the opportunity of a fairly cheap 15" mac book pro just under two years old, and would like to know how easy it would be to transfer my stuff of this lappy that runs on "Vista" across, most of my docs etc are all done on microsoft works, office etc. Just seems a really good deal but need to keep all my gubbins that i have got now as it took me months to do it all

    TIA xxx

    Well, you've got two options....

    1. Buy Microsoft Works for Mac. Having never done this I can't say for sure whether simply copying everything across is all that needs to be done. The apple store guys should keep you right on this. But I can't see why just copying everything across wouldn't work. Personally, I wouldn't install any Microsoft software on my Mac as I've heard stories about it seriously slowing Macs. This was confirmed when I made the mistake of installing MSN Messenger, even after removing it my Mac still wasn't right.:(

    2. Open the documents on your Windows laptop and (not quite sure how you would do this, if at all Windows would let you, but again, I can't see why not) either select 'Save As..' and select the Mac file option. When I save things on my Mac to be used on Windows I can't do the 'Save as..' option. I have to export it to a Windows format. So if you can't 'Save As..' look for an 'Export' option somewhere. The apple software Pages (Word) and Numbers (Spreadsheets) are reasonably priced and unlike Windows the applications can be bought individually saving a substantial amount of money.

    When you go to look at the laptop make sure the screen and keys dim and brighten when the buttons are pressed, check for any signs it's been dropped (dents) and take a few CD's/DVD's with you and make sure that the Superdrive works. It's all over the net that these are faulty but Apple aren't recognising the problem. In fact, just about everything I've gone to the apple store about I get "oh, never heard of that before" almost as if they have been brainwashed in to denying everything so as not to admit any liability. I fixed mine and Westies Superdrive by taking it out, opening it up and blowing in it. The laser had also jammed, probably through lack of use so giving it a gentle push with a wee screwdriver sorted that. So it's not a big deal if it doesn't work, just bear in mind that my fix might not fix it if it has other problems.

    Oh and make sure that BOTH the original CD's come with the laptop as you will need them at some point or another and they are unique to the machine, or at least the Mac OS disc is.

    Lucky you.:beer::beer:

    I was too chicken to try it yesterday as the shop was too busy.:( If I'd have known I could have converted the WHSmith cards to iTunes I'd have been a bit more tempted.

    Thats great info - going to print it off and take it with me at weekend when i go and look at it. If it doesn't have the discs is it a no go then? or can these be purchased elsewhere? also is there any way to find out if its "hot" as i don't want to buy if it is - as much as i would like a mac book don't want it at the detriment of someone else, thanks xxx
