  • Just a quick hello before I even try to catch up. So sorry to hear the terrible trials that some are having to deal with. Busy day today so may not get on here as much as possible, but will be looking forward to my coffee break!

My nightly update is all very bad news guys :(:(:(:(:(:(

When Mr 3Dogs went down to theatre yesterday, the surgeon expected a routine 1 1/2 hours clean out of infection and fit a drain to get rid of the fluid, but, he just happened to look behind a tube and ................................ found a large hard lump on the back of Mr 3Dogs' larger bowel, which is a tumour and has spread to his liver, which had a few lesions too. So his routine op turned into 4 1/2 hour complicated surgery to remove the tumour and the whole back of the larger bowel and the lesions from the liver. He couldn't stitch the bowel back up as not enough left so Mr 3Dogs now has a 'bag' which is permanent :( The tissue removed has been sent to pathology for analysis and the consultants will be meeting next Thursday to discuss treatment and prognosis, but they have said it is very bad, and uncurable :(

When I went over today to see him, he was on a drip and strong antibiotics, plus patient controlled morphine - he presses a button when the light comes on every 4 minutes to administer morphine. He is remaining positive but does know what is involved. He said, having helped others through their cancer, that he could lie there sobbing and yelling 'Why me?' but that won't make any difference to the facts. He has bowel cancer which has spread to the liver, it is Stage IV, Fianl Stage, and uncurable. Chemo can make halt or slow the growth/spread of the cancer and extend his life, but that is all, and he is going to face it full on

Added to this, the van overheated as I got the the hospital so I just had to pull onto the grass, and when I came out I had a £40/£80 parking ticket private company ;). I limped the van to the nearest garage but when I put water in, it poured out the bottom again as a hose had gone, so I called breakdown who said they would be there within 60 minutes, but took 95 mins. Guy refitted and tightened hose so I got home

I have spent most of the night texting and talking on the phone but have yet to tell Mr 3Dogs' family :o that will be tomorrow now as I am exhausted. I am at the vets at 9am for pup Molly's first injections, then calling at car boot/cafe to let them know about Mr 3Dogs as we have very close friends there. Will go over to see him again at 2 pm and the McMillan Nurse is coming to see us re financial and other help when I am there

By the way, the doctor confirmed that Alan's Bowel Cancer/Liver lesions are not connected to his Grade I Superficial Bladder Cancer in December 2007, not is it connected to the appendicitis or the infection from the op. Also, he just had the all clear from routine bowel cancer tests for over 60's in January. It must have been building up for about 2 years to get to the stage it is at, and has only been found now by chance

Got to add that I went to Mr T in March this morning and found a glitch - Tesco Flavoured Sparkling Water - Peach Flavour - normally 4 for £1.50, went through at 20p each. I did a search and see it has already been mentioned but can confirm I bought 4 and paid 80p, offer did not come off as well as reduced price. I have been looking forward to posting my first glitch, but somehow, it does not feel the same, given the day I have had :(

3dogs...I am so sorry to hear your news...you seem so strong and have endured in the last few weeks what some dont suffer in a lifetime...my heart goes out to you and Mr 3dogs and I pray that the doctors can at least make his time as comfortable as possible. My FIL died 3 days before xmas in 2010 of liver cancer - it was very quick but like Mr 3dogs, he accepted his fate which I think helped him deal with it more positively, even though his joking was unbearably upsetting for the rest of the family at times!

I hope you find time to look after yourself and share your worries and feelings with family and friends...including on here - please do not continue your Superwoman role :) ...although i greatly admire you and your strength, I wouldnt like your health to suffer because you're doing too much :)

Sending you and Mr 3dogs lots of love, best wishes and hugs xxxxx

    Please take care xx

i really couldnt word this better, 3Dogs my heart goes out to you. we lost our fil to pancreatic cancer 18mths ago a cruel illness and so indescriminate. I wish i could say something to ease you pain and worry. i hope Mr3Dogs is as comfortable as possible and that you have people to support you and answer any of you questions and concerns.

to the person with the 'meeting at work today' i hope things go ok and its not as severe as was feared the other day when it was being discussed, i didnt back read any more but if this part of the post is inapproprite or needs removing i will take it off just wanted to let you know i was also thinking of you.

i hope everyone is well or at least coping with the lot life is throwing their way at the moment.

Re the eBay post on cheap inks
I've just bought 20 compats for my sx400 from them an so far so good
Compat never last as long as originals and neither original or compat are recyclable but for that price I gave them a go
    Also swift delivery

Right troops, definite need for distraction today. Lets all hit T and scan everthing that isn't nailed down and find that elusive glitch. Preferably a national, pay you money off your shopping, repeat visit won't get corrected till the next day at the earliest kind of glitch. Along the lines of jellies, batteries, tomatoes. Hmm, any variable multi-buy offers out there at the moment?

MKS i did see these today but the SEL (£3.00) on the standalone display was just for the Japanese T flavour. The same one in the aisle did had a SEL of £6.00 though

I didnt try it as i have stuff like this already and didnt want to risk it going through at the correct £3..

FYI though... theres a new strip of Dormens 1p nuts at the top of the crisps aisle.. didnt take any more as i have loads already...;)

Thanks. When I was there, there wasn't any of those ones on the shelf at all - just the mixed ones in the standalone. An sa was fiddling with the £2 ones looking a bit confused!

Thanks for the nut tip, shall go and replenish.

One of my tips was "If you travel through airports a lot then a length of bailer twine makes a handy belt as it doesn't set the metal detectors off. Not only that you won't end up with your trousers round your ankles whilst your belt is going though the scanner."

Only one person could give that tip.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • 3dogs. So sorry to hear your news last night about Mr 3dogs. Hopefully with treatment he'll have some good times still to come.

    I read somewhere
'It's not what life deals you that matters, it's how you deal with it!'

With what you've been dealt recently and how you've dealt with it, you truly are an inspiration to the rest iof us.

Take care, and please pass on our support to Mr 3dogs too.
