British Gas-Please help!
I had my gas and electricity provided by british gas and one month last year I rang them to change the direct debit date. I was told I was in credit and did not need to pay anything and the same thing happened the following month. I thought it was strange but believed them until I got a really high red bill. I rang again and was told I had been speaking to the quarterly billing team rather than the monthly team and had been mis-advised. I paid part of the bill required and the direct debit was re-instated. The person I spoke to didn't ask for too high of a payment and admitted it was their fault. In December I moved back with my parents to try and save money and got a final bill of approx 600.00 which they davised me I could pay over 3 months. I agreed and will make the final payment on the 01/03. I asked if this would affect my credit score and was told if I stuck to the payments it would improve it. I have since since seen that on the 29/01 they changed my credit report to say I had 3+ defaults with them which has significantly affected my report and score. What can I do?

If you are not satisfied with the conduct of the supplier first raise a formal complaint in writing (or by email) setting out your concern and expectation for resolution (which would be removal of the "defaults". If the matter is not resolved 100% to you satisfaction within 8 weeks you can refer the matter to the Energy Ombudsman.
You refer to "defaults". Do you mean "defaults" or "adverse payment markers"? You cannot lawfully have a "default" unless you receivd and ignored a "default notice".0 -
Hiya
It says I have defaulted on three or more payments, can they remove this though? I know it's an arrangement but I was honestly told that it would have no affect on me as long as I stuck to the payments which I have. The only letters I have had here are ones with the amount owed then they sent confirmation of the arrangement.0
