Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 14th February. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
Happy Valentines day everyone - hope you're all loved - even if just by your duvet!!
OH at work in Nottingham, so nothing special happening here. Dogs are loving me though - so much so that they have more duvet than me (grrrr!).
Today is a day out for me and the boys - Beamish Museum I think, then quick and easy meal at home before bed. Will put WM and DW on before I go and might peel spuds for tonights tea too.
Hope Luna has had a good night Bitsy.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

Morning esmf & all who cross/follow
I love Beamish, I took my kids there once when we were staying in the area.
I shall have a go at making marmalade & recycled candles today, all I got done yesterday was some knitting as DD came over with the DGK & we took them to the river to feed the ducks.
I need to go to the butchers & buy another slipper joint for hubby's packups.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone.
A 6.30 start for me and Luna which isn't too bad. I took her out at 1.30am as usual. Its very hard to be quiet as a mouse at that time..well it is for me
especially when I am trying to teach her the toileting word and give loads of over the top praise. I must look like a mime, waving and silently clapping my hands at her :rotfl:
We appear to have reached the biting stage.......she's determined to destroy my slippers as I actually wear them :rotfl:
Plans are to have a walk if the weather is kind, sans dog, so the kids get some much needed fresh air. Then some baking I think as tins are empty.
DW is on, BM needs to go on, WM will of course be going on. Cleaning? Aside from a cat lick with the vac there will be zero cleaning achieved this week. Assuming you don't count me constantly disinfecting the floors and rug
Tea will be chicken curry, fancy something with rice.
Happy Valentines Day, I love esmf's suggestion of being loved by your duvet
Hugs and spoons all round. Have a good day OS or not.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Morning everyone,
My snowman has been reduced to a small pile of ice and a soggy carrot, I think it must be getting warmer.
Sunflower, LW, Lou and Molly hugs to you.
Bitsy Luna seems to be really well behaved and soooo gorgeous.
Rebecca glad we could help, I hope you are feeling a little bit brighter and manage to get to the doctors today. if I can get myself there anyone can!
Got a valentines card this morning, had to leap out of bed to write OH's card quickly while he was cleaning his teeth before he went to work, I had forgotten to do it last night.:o
Taking all the children for an eye test this morning, wanted to fit it in this week before DS turns 16 on monday, but it turns out it is free while he is in education so needn't have rushed.
Off to the doctors myself this morning, have had really painful sinuses for about a fortnight. I hate going to the doctors but I think that this needs sorting out.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Good Morning x
Happy Valentines Day from me too:T:T:T
Another who loved Beamish and the Black Country Museum too. When I went with DD and her school (She was about 7), I got "told off" by the school teacher in the Victorian School role-play. Poor DD stood up and shouted at the teacher for "telling off her Mummy" and was really cross. DD is now 19 and has done this on several occasions since - the most dramatic being in Madame Tussards when a posh family pushed in front of me - the chap was most disconcerted by her outburst!
Well the WI was ok. I have paid my dues so will have to attend now. It was a bit cliquey but also a couple of ladies were lovely so need to give it a go. I was a bit embarrassed as one of the members asked me if I was permanently incapacitated:eek::eek::eek: There is not another one local enough for me so I am positive it will get better!
We are going out for lunch today and then I have Osteopathy this afternoon. Must go and feed the washing machine as DS2 has just emptied his bedroom of dirty clothes:eek:
Have a lovely day and BIG HUGS to those who will find today difficult xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Bore Da!
Well anoher night shift over, thank goodness, not a nice one and I am shattered. Thankfully I am off tonight, not because of Valentines Day but because I got theatre tickets through Grpon for Yes Prime Minister in the local theatre on Weds and if I worked tonight they wouldn't hear the production for my snoring :rotfl:
I have always wanted to visit Beamish - one day!
Will try and pop back later but have to get up early (15:00-ish) to take DD2 to sign on as she was threatening to cancel the appointment and she has to go weekly for the first 4 weeks. As she is planning a move to London I think she thinks she will get a job quicker there and won't need to sign on - I have tried to educate her in the ways of the world but really, she has no idea of the cost of living in a city.
Hugs,
Jan x0 -
Good morning all.
Another one here who doesn't celebrate valentines day. We did when we first together, many years ago now.
Bitsy, Luna is doing really well. The biting stage, i remember it well. Their teeth are like little razor blades.
Got to catch up with the washing today, did four loads yesterday. Quite a bit of ironing to do as well. Normal housework stuff to do.
Tea tonight ischicken breast fillets with stir fried veg.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Hi all,
I will have to look up Beamish too...
Gave OH a card and a book for Valentines day, book was SO cheap on Amazon, but he does love his history so old books are always appreciated - I however got a cuddle (which was nice) - how come valentines day appears to be a shock for most men, like they had no idea, I,m not worried, but I do find it amusing:rotfl:
Off into town in a minute, i,ve got to take some bits back to the shop, will have a nose around too, there,s a new fish shop opened, will check that out and maybe buy something nice for dinner.
Hope you all have a fab day xxNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

morning!
another one here who would like to go to Beamish. I've been several times to the Black Country Museum and loved it - I just love seeing how people used to live. Another similar museum which is excellent is at Blists Hill in Ironbridge - well worth a visit.
Work later for me. Waiting in for the man to service the boiler this morning.
Have tidied up, cleaned the floor and the WM is on. Not planning on doing too much else. Hope he comes so I can pop to the library before work.
(((hugs))) to anyone feeling poorly.
Not had anything from DH for Valentines yet but I have got him a meercat card and a box of Thorntons(on offer:money:) so he'll have to share them with me!
:heart2::heart2::heart2:
have a great day all xDo what you love :happyhear0
