Help with buying clothes

Just wondered if anyone can give me some websites to view. I need to buy myself some new clothes but as i'm size 20/22 I find it really hard finding things that fit. I'm only 5ft 4 too so this doesn't help as all the shops seem to think that all small people must be thin, or at least the shops i've been in.

I sometimes get things in Asda but our local has reduced their lines recently and don't have too much. With a 3yr old in tow it's hard shopping in town and TBH I don't really like shopping that much anyway so I thought I might give online a go. I have about £100 to spend and want to try and get as much as I can for my money.

Anyone got any ideas?

  • Ebay? I've bought some lovely brand new Monsoon skirts and tops from there at a fraction of the price of the shops. They go up to a 20/22 and I've always found them quite generous size wise, and their ordinary length skirts don't come up too long on me (although their long skirts are LONG lol) - I'm 5'5'' btw.
  • Have you tried Simplybe.co.uk? I've seen them on TV not sure about prices/quality though.

What about Evans? Or Dorothy Perkins? DP often have discount codes available for up to 25% off depending when you buy.

When i was at my largest i tended to buy a lot of my clothes online as i just couldnt face clothes shopping. I too am only short so i know what your up against. Being short with next to no waist, i tend to buy seperates rather than dresses. I get a lot of my trousers, jeans and skirts from the petite range at Marks and Spencer but the tops i can economise on by buying elsewhere because i like my tops to cover my bum. Dont forget, you dont have to buy loads, just maybe 4 or 5 skirts/trousers and balance it with loads of cheaper tops/shirts.

  • Had a look at simplybe and littlewoods but all their models are size 8/10 it's so hard to imagine what it would look like on.

I'll give ebay a try, buy loads of things from there but never bought clothes yet.

Thanks for all your ideas will spend tomorrow having a look at the sites you recomended.

    Annie,

The good thing with mailorder is that you can try on in your own home and return anything that doesn't suit.

Usually if I place a catalogue order I order *loads* coz I know a lot won't suit or fit.

Simplybe can be quite reasonable. I got packs of 2 x crossover tops recently for £13 (so £6.50 a top :D)

BTW, Evans are doing 15% off just now if you spend over £40.

Try ebay - I've had some size 20's listed recently and will be listing some more on tuesday *shameless plug*

There seems to be quite a few clothes for us cuddlier types on ebay. I like Evans clothes too but they're quite pricey, even when theres a sale on.

Bon Marche do sizes 12-24 if you have one in your area.

I know thats whats so annoying about SimplyBe, they are supposed to start at size 14, yet their models look much thinner!
