installation of wireless card causes long boot times

i have had a linksys wireless router for about 1 yr although it has been wired to my pc. recently my brother has given me a wireless gigabyte pci card so i can move my pc to another room. the trouble is that when i boot into windows the start bar etc comes up but the computer doesnt become useable for a good 4 mins whilst it loads the wireless connection icon. i can click explorer or whatever but it wont load until it has loaded this set of icons.

could the pci card be confliting with another piece of hardware or software? once it has loaded everything runs ok.

if anyone has any ideas i would be grateful.

Does it actually connect to your router wirelessly, and is it using dhcp? start, run, eventvwr may give you some clues.

yes it does connect. i have never had any poblems with it in that respect.
i have never used the event viewer before but it does have alot of exclamation marks in it. mostly next to dchp in the system tab and truevector service in the application tab.

what do they mean?
