I am not sure if any of you guys here can help me but I bought a phone about 9 months ago off e bay.... It was Brand new and boxed with everything that you get with it. All has been fine until this week when it appears that the phone has been blocked. I think now that the guy who sold it to me maybes has a scam going on where he has sold me this and has now possibly reported it lost so he can a new one.
Whatever it is I now have a blocked phone and was wondering if there is anything that can be done.... I know it cant be unblocked as thats illegal but is it worth ringing the phone company to let them know what is going on or shall I just learn from a very expensive mistake and get a new one (not from ebay!!!).
Its a Sony Ericcson w810i and was originally on orange but I had it unlocked so my sim was with o2

tell the original operator (orange) and they might be able to do something, cant promise anything, because anyone who knicked a phone could say they bought it of ebay and that happened so they probebly wont do a thing...sorryDont forget to click THANKS if I help you!!:j :j0

can you explain more about the phone has been locked?
Does it ask you for a code after you input your pin?
If so, then it may well be you have accidentally set up a phone lock code similar to a pin code. I have both a pin and phone lock code on my w810i.0 -

The OP said the phone has been blocked, not locked. Phone company's can block a phone so that no one else can use it, kinda like saying to theives "what's the point in nicking it, you won't be able to use it for long".l0 -
hi says inactive sim took sim out put into another phone works fine also used sim from other phone in it and same message0

How much did you pay for the phone?
It's not a daft question but relevant when you speak with the phone company. If you paid an honest amount for the phone it strenghtens your case. ie. nowing or believing the goods to be stolen - in other words a fare price for a product.
As guy said above - if you ring them how are they to know that you are not trotting out rubbish.0 -
It cost about £150 so was not cheap.
I think I will try giving them a ring tomorrow.0 -
Shouldn't you report it to the police as it's most probably stolen imo.
Talk to phone company first then go to police and then ebay.0 -
When you report it to the Police make sure you have the imei number as they will be able to check it against a national database which will confirm it either way. Also do you know who the seller was, are they still trading, how did you pay for it etc... all this info will help your case.0
