EDF energy - no bills for 9 months?!

Hi all

I am currently on EDF's Online S@ver v8 Electricity and Gas dual fuel tarriff, which is fixed until 31 March 2012. It started in March 2011.

I have been paying by Direct Debit £64 fixed per month since the start of the deal (I have checked and this money has been going out correctly).

However, I have just logged on to my account since I am nearing the end of the deal and wanted to look into switching and I can see that there have been no bills generated since the May 2011 bill (first bill) and the online account is showing a balance of £576 in credit.

Am I missing something? Surely when I go to view my bills there should be more than just the May 2011 bill and my account should not be that much in credit? I don't want to be hit with some massive shortfall when I come to switch.

The other issue is that I cannot access any usage information for me to use to research a new tariff as there are no bills to view!

Can anyone shed some light on this? Obviously I will try and call Edf in the morning to investigate.

  • I was on EDF's Online S@ver v7 on that tariff only one bill per year was produced so I think yours will be the same.

    Yes. Edf terms and conditions only "guarantees" one bill year per year. However most people find that a bill is produced every time the meters are read or customer reads are submitted.

    Up to you what to do. Be aware that submitting reads may result in a "random" DD recalculation which may (or may not) be a "sudden excessive hike".

    Possibly you are still on the old billing system? Does your account number begin 67* ?

    Whatever, if you phone in readings and ask for a bill I expect you will get one.

    Only 9 months! My parents haven't had one for 13 months. Me , only 5 months. My fix ends at the end of march so I think it's time to switch. Jalexa the 'guarantee' therefore isn't. They have had the meter read twice in that period but no bills. They switched to FS (V2) in may , hope EDF have a reading from that date. Useless doesn't even get close.

    I only used "guaranteed" in a technical sense, it's what the terms and conditions state. As you point out its no "guarantee".

    Anyway 13 months is good, as month by month the oldest month should drop-off under the Billing Code. So "keep mum" but make sure you are putting money aside.

    Thought you might reply. There account is shown as £820 in credit due to no bills. As I have said before they are 78 and 80 and don't need this (my father had a serious heart attack last year), what is wrong with a 3 monthly bill that has worked all their life until this (N)one bill nonsense?

    I'm not defending Edf but there is more than one way to skin a cat. A better issue would whether or not a bill was generated if the account holder phones with readings and asks for a bill. Most people with Edf currently have the opposite problem. Guessing that your parents haven't yet been migrated to the new but "dysfunctional" MyAccount billing system.

    When I phoned Edf this morning, the phone was answered after few minutes by a perfectly cordial adviser. I would say give it a try except I fear a "random" DD recalc might be the result.:D

    I switched them from a basic tariff to FS V2 using the EDF website. The only way you could do it online was to create a one bill myaccount billing system . In my case they moved me to one bill and the first thing I knew about it was when I couldn't access the previous system that err.. just worked. Have you a link to the max 12 months back billing? Would like to have a read of it.
