New Kitchen

We've made the decision to have a new kitchen and I will be installing it myself so having done some research we are looking at using either diy kitchens or Supply only kitchens.
I've looked at both their feedback but has anyone used either of these companies?

Fitted many kitchens, can't go far wrong with Ikea.0

Hi
I would say you really need to start with designing the kitchen first rather than worrying about which internet company to use for the supply. You could give it a go yourself with maybe an online planning program or pay a professional to do it.
Good luck

I've got a design/plan just interested in any particular feedback from MSE users about either company.0

+1 for Ikea. My fitter was very impressed with the one we had fitted last year. 25 Year Guarantee too...0

Another vote for IKEA.
The design/planning tool is easy to use and I liked being able to access it online in the shop as well.
My kitchen was fitted in August last year and looks great. I'm very happy with it.0 -
Ive fitted both kitchens and can conform diy kitchens have better carcasses though supply only kitchens is still a good quality kitchen. Both use Second nature doors so no difference there. Compared to Ikea kitchens.. well there is no comparison really. Im not knocking Ikea kitchens but diy kitchen is miles better but you will pay more for a kitchen from diy but in my opinion its well worth it0

Steve,
Thanks for the reply, can you explain the difference in their respective cabinets, supply only state "All of our kitchen cabinets are made with 18mm furniture grade board and are colour coordinated to your choice of door" and diy kitchens say" The carcasses are manufactured using Egger 18mm high density melamine faced chipboard with 8mm melamine faced chipboard backs to both wall and base units."
Both are made using glue and dowel construction,so what are the differences if any?0 -
Hi as I said they are both good quality but I just think DIY do everything right. They have a 2mm pvc front edge on their carcass, 18mm high density chipboard ( 2 mm thicker than most German kitchens which are made from the same chipboard), blum hinges, they are always square and just really well made. The only thing which doesnt suit some people with DIY is their delivery. But being fair to them they offer a few different price plans.
Ive had 2 kitchens off DIY so far this year, one being my own, and they are also doing some good deals at the moment.
I see you are going to fit the kitchen yourself. If you want to be MSE dont pay the extra to get the doors hung. They rent, or you can buy, a jig which do the hinge holes in the doors. I think they charge 15% to fit the doors on so its quite a saving to do it yourself.0
