PPI Insurance claims in Jersey

Hi

I am helping a friend reclaim her PPI insurance one paid up straight away and we since got the ombudsman involved in another claim and we basically one unfortunately now they can't follow it through because they are saying that Jersey is not included in English law even though its a UK bank and we have to deal with Isle of Man with any queries. Can anyone help on the next step this is a massive get of clause for the UK banks in Jersey and really not fair any advice would be massively appreciated.

Many thanks

Keely

    Hi
I don't know how/if you claimed, but I've just claimed back PPI from a Natwest loan, (Jersey) from many years ago. Phone the local number for online banking (or go to Library Place) and ask to speak to the person dealing with PPI complaints for Jersey. You'll need to put it in writing. I had the basic of information, ie the amount per month and a start date, that was all. Don't call or write to any Natwest PPI claim centers, they can't help and we are Offshore and they can't access any of our information. Good luck.

The Channel Island and Manx subsidiaries of UK banks are generally separate legal entities and not subject to UK legislation.
  • The UK ombudsman can only cover complaints about UK-based firms. You mentioned the Isle of Man - they also have a financial ombudsman so if the bank concerned was based in the Isle of Man you should be able to complain to that ombudsman.

The territory of the ombudsmen is based on where the firm, not the complainant, is based.
