OH had a renewal for a sorned car (now scrapped). She then insured a family car and advised that she had 7yrs NCB (correct). They never asked for or saw the renewal form. She then bought a Pug206cc and sent the renewal form. Has she comitted a grave sin? She has spoken to second ins company who are looking into it.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

If she is still the policyholder on the family car as well as the Pug then unfortuately yes she is in an awkward position. Effectively she has not truthfully answered the questions when insuring the Pug as the NCB was already in use on the family car. In ignorance I managed to do this 4 years ago and had to cancel the new policy and reapply.
If the 2nd insurer comes back with a revised high quote it might be worth contacting the insurer of the family car to see what they would charge for a 2nd car. When we got a 3rd car the two exisiting policies with full NCB were in my name with my wife as a named driver. Our insurer at the time suggested that my wife start a new policy in her name and although she couldn't have any official NCB they gave a discount equal to the full NCB.0 -
Problem solved, transferred family car insurance onto new car, (sorning family car tomorrow, well off road) cancelled the insurance taken out in error.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
