On the UK property front is a 22% allocation not going to depress your returns in the short term.
Not if you pick the right funds! Check out the new SL and SWIP property funds, they are less restricted than the traditional bricks and mortar funds, being able to invest in a mix of bircks and mortar, and property equity.

Bear in mind that is a very balanced sector allocated portfolio, more adventurous ones would see less money in fixed interest and property, and more elsewhere.

I just don't see the point in investing in property at this moment, I can see a time in the future where it would be a great addition to my portfolio but not now.

    This is a interesting article.

Ed's strategy is not flawed. It's limited and given Ed's negative views on overseas investments, it could be that her risk profile doesnt suit it.

Just to clarify here: the investment strategy I follow is a low-medium straegy designed to provide long term stable and rising income, while preserving and hopefully also growing capital.Other features are low maintenance after initial setup which does involve some work, low costs and comprehensibility to the investor.

This strategy can also be used for growth by reinvesting the income, but in general I tend to post on investment threads where people are asking about investing lump sums for income.
I do not disagree with most of what Ed says.

I would say the same. But, because I tend to focus on investing lump sums for income, we do tend to disagree on the suitability for posters of i******** b**** and i***** d*******. fairly regularly.

    Unavoidable really.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)
