Moved house - payout lost!

Hi

I know someone who had an insurance policy with Prudential. The payout was due in 1999 and was more than £2K.

The policyholder moved house in 1997 and forgot about the policy. Recently, while having a clear out, they came across the policy and rang Prudential. The Pru said they'd sent the cheque to the address on their files which was the pre 1997 address and suggested that the policyholder checked their accounts to trace the payment. They would not advise whether the cheque was cashed nor the account the funds were paid into.

It's difficult to check the accounts as they have been closed for many years.

Anybody know who could help to sort this out?

I guess this is not unique and there must vbe ££££s of 'lost' payments.

:)
