Replacing a damaged wall tile

Options
Hi all, hope this is in right place, I have searched but cannot find an answer.

After the electric wall mounted shower broke I bought a 'temporary' shove over the bath tap jobbie. This has turned out to be by far the better cleansing experience and so will not be replacing the electric shower but taking it off the wall and leaving the argos special in situ.

I have spare tiles to replace the ones with the mounting holes, but how on earth do I remove the ones to be replaced without wrecking the whole lot?

Any suggestions appreciated, thanks :)

  • Usually, you break them. Tap gently 'till they crack and then dig out the bits with a screwdriver/ scraper or similar.

When ive done this in the past ive used a tool to take the grout out around the broken tile then drilled a small hole in the center of broken tile you can then usually chip away or lift out the broken tile without damaging the others

remove all the grout you can, and drill various holes in the tile. the more the better.
then chisel away. very gently, bit by bit.
    Get some gorm.
  • remove the grout around the tiles you want to remove, take a masonary drill bit and drill a few holes in the tiles, and then either gently tap the tiles with a steel hammer until they break, or better if you can chisel them out. Please dont forget to wear safety specs when chiselling something as hard as tiles, the fragments will be sharp.

Its a take your time job, and remarkably simple.

Take out the grout, score it heavily all over randomly with a tile cutter(not dear if you need to purchase) and the chip it out!
The tile will break where the tile is scored!

  • Many thanks for all the replies, you're all agreed on the method, so wish me luck for this coming weekend, I'll be going in, goggles and all;)
