New on the electoral roll

I've just been declined a credit card by Barclaycard... because I'm (apparently) not on the electoral roll. I've only just recently been added, despite being at my current address for 10 months, due to the staggering incompetence of my local council. The council have confirmed that I am actually now on the electoral roll, but Equifax don't seem to think so!
Advice please:
1) How long should I leave it before applying for a credit card again to make sure that the information from my local council is correctly supplied to the credit ratings agencies?
2) Should I apply to a different lender second time round?
Thanks!!!

The Local Authoirty only upload to CRA every so often so wait until you are on the electoral roll for sure. Yes you must apply to a different lender otherwise it will be an automatic decline (you generally have to wait 6 months to apply to the same lender again). Try creation or MBNA (Virgin) they are both offering good cards.0

Thanks creditcardhelp11, that is very helpful!
Any idea how long I should wait before trying again? It's just that I have to move in 8 weeks and wanted to get the card before the merry-go-round of changing address/registering with the Local Authority starts again. Do you think 8 weeks is long enough to wait?0 -
I have the Virgin Credit Card (MBNA) and have to say, customer service is excellent, card offers great balance transfer rates 0% for 20 months!0

check you credit files and see whether you are recorded as being on the electoral roll (if not then wait until you are)0

Additionally, as the actual search for you is recorded (irrespective of your Electrol Roll status), this will coulnt against you for repeated applications. Leave it for 7 months before applying again, but there may be other reasons preventing issue, not just the ER.0
