Goods damaged in Transit

Hi

I bought a nice new monitor from a large online computer retailer. It cost £155.

It arrived on the 19th Jan. Unfortunately, after unpacking I realised it had a crack running across the screen.

I phoned up customer services immediately to report the damage. They requested I photograph the damages and email this to them, which I did. They replied stating that they would have to contact city-link to procede a claim and this could take up to to a week.

A week passed so I emailed again. This time I was told they were still waiting to hear from city-link. I have since phoned twice and each time been told they can't do anything until they hear from city-link.

I'm pretty angry at this as I would have expected them to send me a replacement and then make a claim against the courier. I can't see why I should have to wait this long. It is almost 4wks since I received the monitor.

Any ideas how to get them to get their act together?

I paid by credit card.

Thanks, James

Have you asked for a replacement? I would chase this again and again.

If no success you can at least claim off your credit card.
  • yeah I asked for a replacement. I guess I'll have to phone them everyday until they sort this out.

Tell them if they don't pull their finger out you will seek a refund via the CC company and the item will be available for collection by them (at their expense and your convenience). Their merchant account will likely have a fee for defending cases, so it's in their interest
