Crack in exterior chimney wall

We're in the middle of renovating a house which is approx 200 years old and until recently had lain empty for 2 years. The exterior chimney wall is covered in harling (roughcast/stonechip) and was somewhat 'bossed' on purchase.

Last week I removed the old fireplace surround and hearth and I noticed a crack in the concrete floor. I popped outside to look at the corresponding chimney wall and noted that the bossing now has a slight crack (at the same point as where the concrete is cracking on the inside).

The property does not suffer from damp but we have had works carried out on the chimney - including pointing, sweeping and repairing tabling. I'm thinking knock the harling off to expose the bricks and see what's going on, meanwhile I'm worrying about the crack in the lounge floor.

What are my options here? :(
