Buying in season is obviously cheaper then out of season, as well as where you live will have a great impact on what you pay as well as what time of day you shop.

End of market day (over the weekend) you can always pick up a great amount of fruit and veg for a very low price as long as you don't mind the odd squashed item - have picked up 4 heaving blue carrier bags of banana's for a £1!

Also some G.G. are cheaper - we get 25kg of onions for £5.99 and divide within family, as well as 20kg of potatoes for same, our G.G. also does 15 bags of 1kg sugar for 11.99 which works out to the same as the local 99p store, but we try and hold off on the sugar till someone is going costco then workd out cheaper still.

Have found though that grapes, strawberries and big chunks of cheese work out cheaper when bought from costco then local G.G. unless its summer and we get to the market towards the end of the working day.
