Bridge taps & hot / cold balance

Hi,

Currently we have a kitchen sink with separate hot and cold taps. We would prefer one single mixer tap. The simplest solution seems to be a bridge mixer.
The cold tap is mains fed while the hot is coming from the cylinder upstairs (header tank in loft)

My question is, would there be anything we need to do w/ regard to the balancing of the hot and cold. Would the cold water force the hot out & cause issues? Is there a specific kind of tap I should be looking for?

We are looking to replace the boiler at some point soon (currently have a potterton netaheat 10/16 which is between 20 and 30 years old...), but would probably stick with a conventional or system boiler anyway.

Thanks

  • Kitchen taps mix the water as it comes out of the spout and not in the body. The hot comes from the centre of the spout and cold as a ring around the hot (to prevent burning).
