Unless they are now dealing with any existing positions of yours I would say that I would personally apply the "Never" rule....that is to say that I never engage with people that contact *me* regarding investments. That actually includes my own bank in my case but I am quite strict on this! :)

If a company cold calls you then that would definitely put me off.

If you look on the FSA register you'll see they're not listed. So definitely dodgy.

Any company that contacts you uninvited with regards to investments I would regard as "dodgy". Who would you say has more to gain from them getting in touch with you - who I assume is not a well-known millionaire investor or player in the markets?

    Think about it. :)

    All imho

I doubt it's anything to do with shares you've previously owned or still own. Probably just want to sell you dodgy shares in dodgy companies before disappearing with your money.

If you want to track down old shares you should be able to do it through the registrars.

If you don't know what happened to your shares then I don't think that you should be playing the stockmarket :) If you feel that there is a case to explore this with them then insist on a face-to-face meeting at their offices and if necessary take someone with you. Do not even give them your address if they cannot be clear as to why they are contacting you uninvited.......

    all imho

By the looks of things, you've got 2 shares in Tandem Group for every 430 you owned in M V Sports, Tandem group is trading at 78p. So that should give you some idea what they're worth. You should contact the registrars because it looks like your certificate is out of date.

Lastminute.com you should've recieved 165p per share when they were taken over, the ship may have sailed on that one now though, probably worth checking.

Friends provident, you should've recieved 0.9 shares in Resolution (271p today) for every share you held in FP. So that one may not be too bad!

These companies acquire old lists of shareholders and then cold call them on the offchance that can be persuaded to buy some highly dubious shares at inflated prices, often in the USA.

Dont have anything to do with them. Not being registered with the FSA they are possibly acting illegally and there is of course no consumer protection.
