BBC News mentions 0870 numbers

BBC News mention 0870 numbers during breakfast news today, 17th January 2007.

SayNo forum member, kk, has created a thread here.

There may be a huge demand and as such the site may run slower than usual, etc.

    Their excuse was that they do not profit/collect from using 0870 numbers, even though they cost nearly 3 times more than a national call.:rolleyes2

    They do not receive money from their 0870 numbers, and that is what was said. However, they do receive services in kind from Capita and Cable & Wireless who provide these numbers.

    Capita and Cable & Wireless are the providers. BT is only involved if you call from a BT line, and in any case, AFAIK, BT makes little if no profit at all on 0870 numbers that are provided by another telco.
