Is the IOW suitable for someone with mobility issues?

Hello,
We have been looking into holiday cottages on the IOW as we have wanted to go there for a long time but now I'm not so sure it's a good idea as we have recently met someone who has family living there and she mentioned that a lot of the places we would be likely to go are quite hilly. I hadn't considered the fact that when we had dreamed of going there it was because we enjoyed walking and there look to be many beautiful walks there but now I have drop foot I find walking difficult an stumble quite a bit, particularly on unlevel ground. So now I'm wondering whether we should stick with Cornwall? We do have 2 young children so long walks aren't really an option anyway but they do like a good run around and they really want to go to a beach so we want things that allow them space but are accessible for me. Anyone have experience of the Isle of Wight who could advise. Also, do you think the weather would be better in Cornwall or the Isle of Wight for the first week of May? I know no one has a crystal ball but I'm wondering what peoples experiences have been.

Hi: Ventnor is the 'hilliest' town. Lots of great level places to walk around Sandown, Shankin, Bembridge and Seaview...lovely sandy beaches for the children and concrete proms/pavement for easier walking. Weather in May can be variable but I suspect over the long term, less rain than Cornwall.
P.S. We lived on the IOW for several years.

Thanks for your reply Canucklehead. I have decided to just bite the bullet and book it so I have just booked a cottage that is 1.5 miles from Shanklin. Just got to hope the weather is nice now!

Visit Ryde, parking on the prom by the seawall with views back to the mainland, also a large level area with traditional entertainment and activities.0
