He seems very pro-gold?

If you're interested in reading about gold as an investment asset there's a very interesting Credit Suisse "yearbook" report recently released which looks at the investment returns (adjusted against inflation) of various asset classes.

One quote; On the other hand, gold might be proposed as a
hedge against inflation, insofar as it is believed to
appreciate when inflation is rampant. Yet, as we
shall see, gold has given a far lower long-term
return than equities, and for that reason it is unlikely
that institutions seeking a worthwhile long-term real
return will invest heavily in gold.I am an IFA, but nothing I say on this forum constitutes financial advice. Always draw your own conclusions and always do your own research.0 -
I would put no faith in any of the gurus, usually from the USA, who claim to be able to predict the usually apocalyptic future and have a simple way in which you can avoid it. IMHO they are little different to the fundamentalist preachers who promise you eternal salvation if you send in a donation.
Sure, they can demonstrate their success after the event, you never hear about the unsuccessful ones.0 -
Bass is a really clever guy who has made himself very rich. He thinks gold is great.
Warren Buffett is a really clever guy who has made himself very rich. He thinks gold is useless.
Which clever guy do you want to follow? Beats me.
Here's what Warren says:
