HELP - unfair insurance renewal

HELP
I have had my car insurance renewed with the post office, without my permission, and to cancel it they want to charge my £1.50.
What a cheek, told them to stuff it, but they are going to start chasing me for the full amount. I know its only £1.50 but imagine the amount of poople who just pay it.
The other problem is I scrapped the car about 3 weeks ago, so no longer own the vehicle.
What options do I have, this must come under the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 or the Sale of Goods Act.

They probably have an auto renewal clause in their policy - this means they simply renew the policy unless you tell them not to. If this is the case then it is not unfair.
I don't know where they are getting £1.50 from though - absolute waste of time charging a fee unless it is nearer £15. It sounds as though they may be charging you for the time on cover.0 -
To be honest, life is too short to argue over £1.50. Pay it and move on with your life.0

Have to agree with all the above.0

They wil probably have advised you in the t&c's that the policy will be automatically renewed. if you didnt want it to be then the onus would have been on yiu to call then BEFORE the renewal and tell then you didnt want it.
If you didnt tell them not to renew then they have done nothing wrong.
I would just pay the £1.50 and leave it at that.Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
Just had my renewal with the Post Office and it clearly states that the policy will be renewed automatically unless you phone an 0800 number.
The £1.50 probably refers to the merchant charge for giving you a refund. It costs them to receive money and to refund.
Sorry but you've not been treated badly in my opinion.0 -

I'll have to agree on this. Just read mine and it says as above. Think i'll be ringing them in the morning to opt out.
