Halfords wired my handsfree parrot wrong and it keeps blowing my lights

Hi forum users,
Back in july I purchased a parrot hands free from halfords and they fitted it (big mistake). When they first installed it the mdi for connecting the iPod stopd working and a headlight went out. So I took it back and they said it was nothing to do with them. I took the car to VW who said it was the wired it wrong. Explained this to halfords who denied this but out of good will they would have another look. A different guy had a look and said the first guy had done it all wrong. Since then I have had several different bulbs blow but I put this down to bad luck. However after the last bulb went I took the car back to VW who said it was the handsfree as the live was wired to the lights. Can I still go back to halfords and make them correct it or do I have to pay VW to sort it?
Any help would be great!

Best to ask Halford's 1st, get something in writing from VW if possible.

I would get an independent report or even a report from the dealer stating that it is wired wrong then send a copy to Halfords head office telling them that you want it put right and have no faith in their workmanship and will they admit liabilty and pay for a independent electrician or the dealer to rectify the bad workmanship. I fail to be honest to see why the dealer is saying it is wired to the lights as the lights are not live fed all the time unless theyve took the live feed off the back of the switch or something plus it wouldnt blow the bulb if anything it would be the fuse

If it makes a diffrence my headlights come on with the ignition (don't switch off)

Even if they had wired it to the lights, there isn't enough current drawn by the Parrot system to cause a problem and it certainly wouldn't blow individual bulbs.

You've had several different bulbs blow, not the same one. Bulbs don't last forever and if you have a car that has daytime running lights you'll find you're changing them far far more than you used to do simply because they're now on all the time the car is running.

surely the handsfree would be wired to the internal dash lighting(if thats the circuit they took a live feed from)
are these the bulbs you are referring to?
If you mean external lights,then I dont see why they would hook up to the actual external light wiring

Although you can get the wiring adapter for the Parrot to connect to the VAG radio, they would need to connect the supply to a switched live so that it turns on & off with the ignition (the feeds to the radio are permenently live so the parrot would be on all the time otherwise). Normally its taken from the 12v cig lighter socket supply as that can supply plenty of power, the feed should be taken from the fuse box if done properly
