Hi I'm moving out Of my rental property in 2days and the knob on the shower to turn it Off has just broken, will this have to come out of my deposit or should the landlord still have to fix it without me paying for it?
Please help I'm desperate to know where u stand as I can't afford to loose a big chunk of my deposit
Thanks
Lisa

Depends what happened.
you say "broke the shower", so it's your fault, so you pay.
Then you say "the knob on the shower ...has just broken" which kind of implies you did not cause the break (it was a manufacturing defect?), therefore the landlord pays.
So... what actually happened?
And what exactly is broken? You may be able to buy a replacement 'knob' quite cheaply. Of course, there are knobs.. and knobs. Some come cheaper than others, and some come as part of a package.0 -
If there was more than two days left I'd suggest acquiring some epoxy resin and sticking it back on. Then, not using it at all for a few days for it to solidify and cross my fingers that it doesn't come back off until after your deposit has been returned. I wonder if some super-glue might work?0

Rapid araldite sets in secondsNo reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

If you're planning on sticking it back on, make sure it is in such a way that it still turns. The shower might still be useable with a broken knob. But if you stick it and jam up the whole mechanism you could end up doing more expensive damage than just knob-replacement.0

In the OPs situation, if I'd been a bit rough with the controls I think I'd probably source a replacement "knob" pronto - google shower spares uk0
