join bank account for bills query...

me and my partner are getting married next weekend and are thinking of getting a joint current account where the house bills would come out from. they currently come out of my natwest current account and she pays a standing order to me each month which works fine but she wants some more control in the bills etc which is fine.

question is, as the direct debits come out the start of each month how would we fund the current account before the bills come out. faster payments should* transfer the same day but sometimes hsbc to my natwest account takes a few days which will lead to the joint account account going over drawn. and i don't think i could transfer money say on the 27th as i will be skint lol. We both get paid the last working day per month... does this make any sense??

ideas??
