Paying off the massive debt built up over the last few years. How can the government get Away with all the TAKING and never giving anything back..
Because that is what Govts do. They cant give back more than they take (Although Labour try)

up untill last year i believed that I would retire at 62 and that wouldnt change, I am gobsmacked to find its now 66, another 4 years on top!!
You seem to be a little confused with regards the changes to your state pension age.
For the last 17 years your state pension age was between January 6th 2019 and March 6th 2019 which would make you 64yrs 4/5mths as opposed to the 62 yrs that you state. This is based on a birthdate of September 1954 ( I don't know exactly when in September you were born).
Since the outcry over the most recent change which would see those women born in 1953 or 1954 face a 2yr rise taking them to age 66, the government delayed the rise to October 2020 meaning that there would be a maximum of an extra 18 months and not 4 years as you state.0 -

You still don't understand. ??????????
The previous Lab govt GAVE much much more than they took in. Which is why we are in the mess we are in. Like if you earned 10K per year but spent 20K?
The reason the age was moved up was 2 fold. To equalise the rights of men and women, and the fact that people are living much longer and a change was LONG overdue.
When pensions first came in, most people didn't live to take them but for a few years. Now people are taking their pensions for 3-4 DECADES or more. so the difference in retirement age is to pay for the difference between paying a pension for 2-3 years or 20-30 years.0 -
Mrs m received a letter this morning from DWP giving "Important information about your State Pension age". It clearly states "your new SP age will fall on your 66th birthday". It also outlines the forthcoming change and states "you are not be affected by it" so it looks like everyone who is affected by the changes will be getting something personally.0

Even words are getting longer these days
Just said that to try and steer away before any female reaction. Heads down chaps, in coming :whistle:I believe past performance is a good guide to future performance :beer:0 -
I'm a woman and I agree that women's retirement ages should be later from a life expectancy standpoint. We live longer, why not?Since March 2012:
Paid off: $3,985.80
Owe: $16,230.44
I attempt to clear all my debts by my 30th birthday at frugalcitygirl.com!0 -

My bolding, does that mean that the reversal of the speeding up has not yet been ratified ?0
