Radiator Valve packing

Options
The rad valve is leaking at the spindle. The nut cannot be tightened further as it has reached the end of its thread. Whilst I can replace the valve, I would prefer to pack out the gland. Any suggestions as to the best material eg washer, steel, brass or fibre or some form of grease.
Thanks

Roger

P T F E Tape is what I have used in the past.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

About two turns of tape around the spindle (In a clockwise direction when viewed from above)
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

A short length of string, preferably wiped in tallow or grease makes a very good piece of packing.
PTFE has its uses but is best used for thread packing, not spindle packing.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
