New Bathroom Suite

I have just been quoted a ridiculous price of approx. £6000 by Wickes to renovate my bathroom.
So I think I will project manage it myself. After being taken for a ride by a trademan I found on Rated People I am very wary of all tradesman.

I would to buy the suite myself and employ a Pumber, Tiler and electrican.

Could anybody give me some advice about the pitfall.

Is there somewhere where I can by the bathroom suite and funiture trade prices.

supplying the suite yourself is fine no problem with that,

how can you project manage a job where you have no experience of the trades you are managing ?

any tradesman isn't gonna be happy with you looking over his/her shoulder all day asking what they are doing, at the very best they will get fed up & it will most certainly cost you more as it will be taking them more time if you are in the way.

please don't tar all tradesmen with the same brush just because you have had a bad experience, try to get someone that has been recommended to you by a friend.

why should you get the materials at trade prices you aren't in the trade, any self employed person has to make a profit the same as all the shops, thats why there are trade prices & retail prices, after all you don't do your weekly shop & expect tesco/asda to sell you the stuff at the same price as they bought it.

sorry if it seems like i'm having ago i'm not, just trying to point out some of the things you seem to be over looking but i do agree whicks price does seem high but then i don't know the work or materials involved.
