Hello there,
Complete forum newbie here (but long time e-mail follower!!) so be gentle with me!! :-)
My Mum sent me into a panic today (perhaps unneccesarily?) by telling me that as of April I will need to work 24 hours to receive my Working Tax credits.:(
I am a single Mum of one child and I work 22.5 hours a week (3 days). Although I receive virtually no Child Tax credits (as I have no eligible childcare costs) I receive around £250 WTC every 4 weeks and without this I would struggle to make ends meet.
I have checked the HMRC website and it seems from what I have read that the 24 hours per week only relates to couples and that for single parents 16 hours is still the minimum.....hoping that I am right...
Can anyone confirm or contradict this please?!
Thanks,
Sarah

Yes, the 24 hours requirements is changing for couples only. For lone parents it remains 16 hours.0
