British Gas Business Bill -Never signed up!

Hi all.
My OH moved in with me in June from a rented flat. He had a BG account there paid by direct debit and gave our address as the one to send the final bill to. In august we started getting letters from British Gas Business demanding payment of over £5000 for an account which has been put in his name despite never having a business account with them in his life. The dates for this bill are from before he moved into the flat and they are still sending bills which are getting higher every month. On top of this the meter ref for the two accounts is different!
We've been arguing this with them the whole time and have contacted their complaints department as well as the ombudsman but have heard nothing back from the latter. It seems to be being investigated at the moment but given the ineptitude of them (sending emails requesting info which is attached lower down, asking for access when every call/email says it's an old address etc) I'd like a bit of advice on where we stand. I've told OH to do everything in writing in the meantime.
Has anyone had anything like this happen to them and how long did it take to sort out?
Thanks in advance.

If he is on DD and online, then there is no need for a final bill to be sent to your address good luck with the episode, somehow I don't beleive it is all BG's fault in this instance.0 -
Thanks for the good wishes.
It was a fixed DD hence the final bill being forwarded to my address. I'm also inclined to think this started with a mess up by the lettings agency but as the person responsible for their flat, check out etc has left we've got nothing to go on. Her replacement is being very helpful though and is really fighting BG.
It's just incredibly frustrating to have to keep chasing them and repeating ourselves!
I'm sure we'll get there eventually.0
