Talktalk billing - in advance ?

Hi, easy question hopefully but I can't find the info on the Talktalk site anywhere...
Do Talktalk bill in advance / a month behind / what?
I've just cancelled my Talktalk phone / broadband account and am now with Sky, yet Talktalk have told me not to cancel my direct debit just yet. To put it blunthly, I don't trust them for a second and want to work out exactly how much I how them.
I'm not in any tie in period (having been with them for 5 years) so it's just the actual monthly bills. I last paid their monthly bill (£28.17) on January 19th via direct debit and my Sky service started on Friday 3rd February.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
BTW, I got a brilliant deal with Sky - I've been with them for TV for a few years, but got 25% off my TV bill, free broadband and phone for 12 months AND free line rental for 12 months too! Had to play hard ball and threaten to cancel though, ignoring a few worse offers first.

Look at your last bill. It should tell you the period covered by any standing charge component.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

line rental is usually paid for in advance. however, you normally pay call charges the following month - which is probably why they have told you not to cancel your dd, as you won't pay for any potential final month call charges until the month after your talktalk service has finished.0

All telcoms bill line rental in advance. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Cancel your Direct Debit Straight away. Then you get a letter stating 'we have noticed you have cancelled your Direct Debit - Ring ****'
Then ring them they say don't worry we will wave the charge just pay when you get the final bill. IT WILL BE A NIGHTMARE TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK.
I'm 110% sure your final bill will be wrong. They will try to charge you for another months package. When you ring 'overseas' they will tell you that your account has not been completely closed?*?*.
Just argue that you know it has, and you have checked with Sky to confirm. When they give you more waffle just state that 'I will pay the amount that expect to pay and will write a letter to Ofcom and to TalkTalk CEO.' Amazingly they will nullify all charges not due instantly.
I'm talking from experience. I've just spent 1 1/2 hours being passed pillar to post around the world trying to get my last bill sorted after I returned to Sky. Glad I cancelled my DD.
Wish I'd never gone to TalkTalk !!!
Never Got my Broadband
Had my Anytime Calls removed
Had a 12 month Contract which someone at TT changed to an 18 month one.
Then they said you cant get Essentials with Uk Anytime Calls Boost and Line Rental.
Strange my first paperwork states this and if you go online you can get it. LIES,LIES,LIES!!!!
Luckily I've kept all my paperwork, noted all my calls and requested copies of all dialogue between TT and me, through the Data Protection Act.
Cancelled due to failure to provide promised (and paid for) services and claiming miss-selling (Distance selling act) - Gave them 3 1/2 months!!!0
