Is there a program that can let me access websites that require windows xp or 2000 to access them? I am on windows millenium, but cannot afford to upgrade right now.I heard there's a program that can "fool" websites into thinking I'm on windows 2000 or xp,even if I'm on windows millenium. Is there any truth in this?

Hi,
why do you want to 'fool' a website,is there any advantage, am I missing something?
I don't think it matters what OS you're on re web access, I'm on XP now, and I don't notice any difference from when I had ME.0 -

I kind of confused TBH. I used to do technical support and I have never heard of what you want to do! Browsers sometimes won't open newer websites if you're using a really old version of it like IE3 or something but again as far as I know all current browsers are backwards compatable back to 98se operating system (older than your operating system).
Do you mean you can't open something on webpages maybe like flash? Can you advise what you can't do and what you want to do and I can help you.0 -
i still have customers using 98 and ME fine. try using firefox browser aswell as IE.
you shouldnt need to fool anything.
you've more than likely stopped getting updates from microsoft.
try windowsupdate and see if it'll let you update anything.:: No Unauthorised Links in Signatures please - FM ::0 -

Try Slim Browser http://www.flashpeak.com/sbrowser/ I tried, similar to what you are doing, with a Microsoft site, and it wouldn't accept Firefox or Opera, but i fooled uncle Bills software by using Slim Browser0 -
Hi.The reason why I wondered if there was a program that could fool a website into thinking I'm on xp or 2000,instead of millenium,is that there is a website voice chat program called paltalk which now no longer allows millenium users to log on to it!You have to be on 2000 or xp now,to log on to it,which I find unfair. As I cant afford to upgrade right now, that is why I asked the question.0
