Please help with new heating system

I have bought a house which needs complete renovation. Building work is complete, the storage heaters are out, the house is completely empty and the floorboards exposed. So I'm trying to get quotes to install GCH. Unfortunately no one wants to do it! I have arranged for 4 quotes, only 1 guy turned up and 3 weeks on he still hasn't got back to me with his quote. It looks like I'll have to go with the builder's plumber, probably paying a premium, but that's life.
I would like some advice on what to have. I did go to the plumber with my list of wants so that I would get comparable quotes based on what I've read online, but both of the ones I have actually seen have wanted to fit a combi even though I wanted a system boiler and they want to put it in the loft.
Can anyone advise me on what they'd do for this house? Very briefly, it is a 3 bed semi, 1 bathroom with both a bath and seperate shower, downstairs loo. There will be 3 people ordinarily resident.
I asked for a system boiler with the tanks fitted in the loft, but both plumbers want me to have a combi. I don't really have anything against this, but have found it takes ages to fill a bath with one and (from online research) they seem to be more complex with more to go wrong, plus you can use an immersion with a system boiler if the boiler packs in.
There seems to be very little option as to where to fit a boiler since front and back external walls are taken up with huge windows/door and the side wall is in the garage. As far as I can see it can either be fitted in the integrated garage the vent through the roof or in the loft venting through the roof or the gable end. There may be an option of fitting it in the porch (which will be the same temp as the rest of the house) and venting through the roof, depending how big the boiler is - I've got space for about 40cm cupboard?
So, my main questions are:
system or combi boiler (ignore cost please)?
where to put the boiler (loft, garage or possibly porch)?
electric shower or one from the mains?
There is probably more to know but I don't know what is pertinent. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

keep looking until you find workman who wants to do the job the way you want it doing.0 -
My option would be
system for the same reasons you mention
porch (as long as it isn't intrusive). the airing cupboard would be another option but depends where it is.
