Comfortable cars for 3Kish
I have a max budget of £3.5 ish, I'm disabled and the most important things are:
comfortable to drive
room for my wheelchair in the boot
Previously I was thinking about a BMW 3 series but the prices have shot up enormously, so at the moment a jag seems the best of the bunch.
Any help welcomed

If your disabled I think, regretably, the Jag is out. They are surprisingly low slung with wide sills to get over and despite their enormous charm, comfort, speed and elegance, I think you would get cheesed off with it pretty soon. Have a look at a 5 Series BMW (e39 shape, 1997 to 2003). They are taller, almost as comfy, have deeper boots and while not as featherlight to drive as the Jag, will be lighter on fuel and probably hold their resale value a little better too.0

I'd look at estate cars as the boot floor is lower thus making the act of putting a wheelchair in a lot easier.0

If you avoid the "wannabe middle class" prestige German makes, you'd get a much newer, more reliable and better equipped car from the likes of Vauxhall/Ford.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Thanks for the replies

Strider - I'd noticed that but having had 13 cars since I passed my test, I'd already discounted some of the marques as even pre disability, they weren't as comfy

for such a low budget and looking at prestige you are onto a hiding to a leg in
i would suggest something as simple as a ford that fits your bill a nice mondeo would certainly be on my list0 -
MOndeo Estate:
Big but not vast, comfy, nice ride. If you go for the petrol option you can get a whole load of car for your money. Plenty of diesel available too but be aware of injector faults and dual mass flywheels.
Volvo V70
Bigger, TONNES of room and a very comfy place to be.
Volvo S60
If you don't need the space of the estate, S60's are really nice to drive and eat miles in silence and comfort.
If you can stretch to £4k you certainly get into the realms of Petrol BMW E46 3 series, which are really nice cars and probably a slightly better drivers car than the above.0 -
If you want comfort, as in not feeling bumps in the road, you'll be after a Citroen C5, with hydropnuematic suspension. Nothing this side of a Rolls Royce will beat that. Big boot as standard (pretty sure it's a hatchback) but a wheelchair will go into the boot of the estate more easily. BMWs (well the 1 and 3 series at least) aren't that comfortable on the road as they're usually set up to be quite sporting (relatively!) and also tend to have low profile, and even less comfortable runflat, tyres.0

Rover 75. Probably the only decent car to come out of Longbridge, I have the diesel and it's been faultless.
Also, amazingly comfy. I drove to south Germany without a break - a 750 mile journey.
You'll get a minter for £3k too, I got an 03 plate CDTi for £1600.0
