Will AOL Netgear DG834G work with talktalk?

Hi folks,
Can you guys confirm if the Netgear DG834G router that is supplied by AOL will work with ANYother UK ISP? (especially talktalk?)

The only thing holding me back is that I've read that they are (factory) pre-configured to work with AOL only? is this true?

  • yes but you can reflash the software to make it standard and then it will work. This can be done easily.

I can't find anything to confirm they are locked to AOL. People have used them after migrating without problems. I would reset the router by pushing in the pin-hole on the rear first and then use the wizard to set up the new connection.

Edit: Was typing my reply when you posted dickibobboy. I couldn't find anything to confirm it was locked to AOL though

Sky broadband also do this but a quick firmware flash from the netgear site will let you use it with any ISP so check the firmware version and just reflash..
  • thanks guys; just has to double check before splashing my cash.
