I can recommend Clinique All About Lips. Its the only thing that works for me, and then I stick a waxy lip balm over the top. Other than that, good old Savlon or Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream.

That's why i said the one with aloe vera. Really good at conditioning the lips. And as a barrier for brushing the skin away.

Thats the one I had been using prior to posting, my lips just seemed to get drier :(

Thanks- savlon was going to be my next bet- the 8 hour cream is great but basicly just petroleum jelly (which is vaseline) its a great product for barrier cream when dying hair though and easier to apply then vaseline because its thicker.

tbh the vaseline ones work more as a preventative, although there is some healing in the aloe. Think it's more important to get them moisturised first then try to remember the vaseline before going out in the cold/wind. Sometimes if they are that bad it can take a wee while longer to grow the skin back on them. The thing is, most of the things taste horrible to put on your lips, oh well i suppose it stops you from licking your lips and making them worse

  • Any time I get stressed I chew the skin on my lips right off! I'm awaiting some results tomorrow, and with Valentine's today I'll have no lips for my bf to kiss later on this evening!!

I just use my normal lip balm (Wilko pack of 3 fruity ones, 90p, watermelon, grape and strawberry)... about once every half hour!! Previously the BEST lip balm I'd ever tried was the Inecto coconut one, but I can't find it anywhere now... I had a couple from the 99p shop but they don't have it now.

Sudocrem overnight is also very good to accelerate healing... best done if you're sleeping alone though because you'll look like you're going skiing!
  • Oh yeah and also I agree with the above, never step foot outdoors in the cold or especially the wind without lip balm on, it'll dry your lips right up.
  • I find vaseline useless for dry lips, I use the blue Nivea lip balm (the stick) it's really good, and stays put!

Benn trying very very hard and not been chewing my lip- well most of today anyway! Been using the Blistex healing cream which I think is helping though feels kinda odd applying! I'm used to overly creamy lip balms and so on! (The Body Shop's Shea butter for example). I have to say they feel a lot better, I think though the biggest difference has been being able to sleep the whole night through this weekend, (my weeks lack sleep, my weekends make up for it).

Its not the wind or air thats affected it as much as me, I managed to avoid the outside most of last week as I was too scared to leave my home for most of it! (I had a burglar break in and it left me afraid to go out so I cancelled as much as I could, took time off and hid inside!) When I did go out I made sure my route was door to door as public transport moves faster then I can (most of the time) which meant I could get home as fast as possible, would like to blame the weather but its all really been my own doing...!

I think this is really clearing up- I managed to both brush my teeth AND eat salt on my food again today without wincing as I did so.

    Thanks so much everyone!
