Men's wedding ring (hard wearing). Feedback req

I have platinum rings, and they have kept their shine much better than hubby's palladium. It has a lot of scratches and he works in an office! I would go for Titanium considering the price difference!

my hubby has a titanium ring (not wedding ring) and its so hard it scratches other stuff - our lovely new white ceramic sink has a big unremovable mark on it from his ringPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Sorry rachbc, i shouldn't laugh but that made me chuckle. Here's me looking at a ring that wont scratch & you say it's the ring that'll be doing the scratching!! lol.
The gf was looking at platinum .... and their prices. This put us off. The ones we saw today were getting on the 4 figure mark & beyond. I know this 'can' be cheap for a ring, but it's expensive for us. Shame, as i think it was ideally what she wanted, but we couldn't justify the price.
On the topic of white gold, the gf's engagement ring is white gold. She wanted an emerald engagement ring & we could only see one in white gold. The problem with this is that she regularly (yearly) needs to get it re-coated as it turns yellow. I think she's considering getting it set in another metal to avoid the yearly re-coat.
Thanks very much for your help guys.
I think the best thing for me is to get both & try them on to see which i prefer .... dull vs shiny .... plain vs one with a band. It'll be the only way i'll be able to make a proper decision.0 -
Choose the ring that is right for you and within your budget - do not worry about it being 'cheap'.
Definitely go and try some rings on and dont feel pressurised to buy at the 1st shop you stop at. Rings look very different on to what they look like in the shop window!
Any money that you do save I am sure you can put towards something else for the big day!!
No one is going to ask how much it cost etc etc - they will compliment you on your taste and possibly ask what it is made from.
My hubbie has titanium & silver - I now see that you can get similar rings in stainless steel - and they are really really cheap - again no one can tell or will ask how much it cost!0 -
I have titanium ring. It looks good and it is very light. However, I discovered soon after I got married that I absolutely hate wearing a ring, especially for manual work. It clatters and bangs against the tools, against the job, against the furniture, against everything.
It lives in its box now and only gets worn for special occasions. I might put it on on Tuesday, for example.
I'm glad it didn't cost the earth.0 -
My ex had a titanium one, he was a plasterer to trade and to this day (I still have it) it's perfect.0

My husband was very attracted to a titanium ring, however one jeweler told us that they cant ever be resized or even have the titanium remelted and made into a new ring if you ever needed the size changed, to it might be worth bearing this in mind.0

My DH wanted a ring that could handle a bit of wear and tear and he ended up with palladium.0

Just don't bother.
Used to have one when married before and binned it. Not into jewellery at all.0 -
Titanium can be cheaper but is not always as good quality. I would recommend you got to a goldsmith and get a palladium one made. My wedding band to fit round my engagement ring was £200 hand made and excellent quality. Palladium acts like platinum but is more the price of white gold (normally a bit cheaper)love you lots like jelly tots0
