Which credit cards to use

Going to France soon, I have got nationwide credit and debit cards. I am not sure which one to use to my advantage. I understand if I use the debit card to withdraw euros, there is no fees but what about paying goods using the credit card? Thanks

  • I have had both for years and have saved hundreds.

Process is simple - load debit card up before you go and use this only for cash withdrawals.

Pay for everything else with your credit card and pay off the balance in full when you get the bill.

With both cards you get the wholesale exchange rate, which can be considerably more advantageous than the rate you would pay elsewhere.

I also always let NW know where & when I'm going so they don't regard transactions in another country as suspicious and block them under their anti-fraud procedures.
