My Partner and I didnt link Credit Files but do have joint bills a/c and joint shopping a/c.

Bills - we use a "Cash Transactor" A/c from Yorkshire Building Society full DD & SO facilities but no o/d or debit card (you can have atm cards if you want them) and most importantly no credit check or linking of financial records.

Shopping - we use a Nat West First Reserve A/c (Or RBS Instant Access Savings Account) its a savings account but with a Visa Debit Card so again no credit check or linking of financial history and we both pay in by bank tfr and doesnt matter which one of us it at the shop as we both have debit card on the account to pay with.
  • I'm speaking from experience.

Don't do it. It will result in you going down to HIS credit record level, not him coming up to YOURS!

No ifs, no buts. It will happen. You will be shafted.

  • many thanks for the replies, I have as a result been looking into a basic bank account (never heard of them before) for the food shopping, seems the easiest way to go rather than carrying wads of cash around, while protecting my credit score. many thanks!!!
