hi,i would like to hear from anyone who is self employed and has recently obtained a personal loan, as at some point during 2012 i would like to obtain a loan for approx £10,000 to £12,000 and basically would like to put myself in the srongest possible position to achieving this,my status is as follows s.employed-renting - £30,000 - no debt - no defaults, ccj's - no failed credit applications - credit expert 950+ last month i know they aren't the lenders but all on report is correct i.e no late payments -in the last year thanks to the fantastic advice on credit card section of mse i've obtained new current bank barclays -2 credit cards 1 is with barclays with combined credit limits of £3000 always paid in full by d.d and i never exceed 50% of available credit - mobile phone contract - showing on electoral roll last 6 years and only 1 change address in that time - so i just have 6 questions and any response to any of the points would be appreciated Q1.same date each month i credit my account with same amount in cash as my earnings this hasn't been a problem with my credit card application with barclays but will that be different for a personal loan ? Q2. when i save a few thousand in my account it is usually then withdrawn to be invested so my balance for a short period drops to a few hundred do you think i will be viewed as unable to save ? Q3.do you think i'm better trying to obtain a loan with my own bank 1st or has anyone experienced problems with obtaining barclays personal loans ? Q4. credit cards or loans any views on which is easier to obtain ? Q5. what is best advice for purpose of loan i say this because i intend to invest loan if obtained and i guess the bank would not welcome that idea , is car most obvious suggestion ? Q6. in terms of supporting paperwork so i can be prepared i.e accounts fully up to date what extra's do they sometime require after initial application ? as i said earlier any help with just 1 or 2 points would be most appreciated many thanks for sticking with story:T

What do you do as self employed?
To be honest it might be better if you deleted this thread as it is very difficult to read. IMO start again cut out the crap and tell us what you want to know.0 -
sounds to me like OP wants a "personal loan"for "business purpose"

i'm surprised to receive a comment suggesting fraud,i have a perfect credit history no debts no failed applications are you saying if you applied for a loan stating purpose car purchase and then decided to use for other purposes is fraud, investments can quite clearly be personal investments i.e not business as you suggestedsounds to me like op wants a "personal loan"for "business purpose"

Clearly it's not for a car though is it? However you dress it up it's fraud.
But hey you're just going to bleat on about how your credit history is perfect and ignore us as does everyone on here who thinks fraud is acceptable, what do we know blah blah blah
Same story, you clearly know best don't you.

of course fraud is unacceptable did you not read my post i haven't done anything i was simply asking for what purposes banks look most favourably upon as for your comment "you clearly know best don't you" what part of my post displayed any signs of me claiming to know best that's why i was here to be pro-active in my preperations for obtaining loans AND FINALLY DON'T CONFUSE ME WITH HAPLESS,HELPLESS INDIVIDUALS DROWNING IN DEBT AND CONCENTRATE ON ACTUALLY TRYING TO ASSIST ON THE 6 POINTS I RAISEDClearly it's not for a car though is it? However you dress it up it's fraud.

I'm self employed and got a personal loan (for personal use) in Oct 2011. The application was a little more complex as it had to go through my business manager as well as branch manager, however my business and personal accounts are with the same bank so all information was to had, just had to go through different departments.0

You need a business account and 3 years audited accounts.
If these show you making a profit its a start, and a business manager should be able to help you.0
